Finance Officer
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Principal, the Finance Officer shall be responsible for day to day management and supervision of the financial and accounting functions of the school. He/ She shall ensure that accounting policies, controls and guidelines comply with approved procedures.
Responsibilities
- Custody and maintenance of books of accounts and accountable documents.
- Ensure proper fees records are always kept and requisite receipts are issued correctly and in a timely manner.
- Ensuring a proper paper trail for each transaction is kept.
- Developing management mechanism of school’s resources & statutory compliance.
- Planning and evaluating cost reduction measures.
- Managing and evaluating accounting systems for the school.
- Constant check on possible fraud and errors.
- Working with auditors in ensuring accountability.
- Preparation and monitoring of school’s budget.
- Developing working relations with professionals e.g. bankers, auditors etc.
- Safeguarding the school assets by providing proper coding and records.
- Supervising of all staff under him/her.
- Preparing regular financial reports.
- Preparing monthly payroll.
- Ensure compliance with finance and procurement policies
- Any other duties that may be assigned to him/her.
Requirements:
- Must have completed CPA or its equivalent qualification.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics or a combination of any or any other relevant degree will be an added advantage.
- Must have at least 3 years’ working experience in the accounting practice in a school or any other public or private institution.
- Must be conversant with Sage ACCPAC or any other major ERPs.
- Membership to Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or relevant professional body is mandatory.
- Must have knowledge in relevant legislation and professional standards.
- Demonstrate merit and show ability as reflected in work performance and results
- Must be proficient in computer applications.
- Proven knowledge of accounting standards and procedures.
- High attention to detail and excellent reporting and presentation skills
- Must be able to work with a diverse team.

Internal Auditor
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Board Audit Committee and administratively to the Principal, the internal auditor shall be mandated to ensure effective operation of systems and controls which minimizes financial and operational risks.
Responsibilities:
- To plan, develop and monitor the implementation of internal audit strategies and annual audit plans for the school.
- Perform duties in planning, managing and conducting operational and complications audits.
- Develop comprehensive reports of findings and recommendations; provide professional recommendations in formulating policies and procedures to ensure sound systems of internal control and compliance.
- Develop and implement risk management policies and guidelines and fraud detection, prevention and elimination policies and strategies.
- Perform and control the full audit cycle including risk and control management over operations’ effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations.
- Conduct applications systems audits i.e. Sage ACCPAC and other business systems to determine the completeness and accuracy of transactions that have already been processed and the internal controls therein.
- Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality and goal achievement.
- Report to management and audit committee on risk management and ensure proper mitigation strategies are put in place to manage the risks.
- Follow up on findings and recommendations agreed during internal and external audits.
- Carry out investigations on any special project or perform any other duties assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance option), Auditing, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration (Accounting/Finance option) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Must have completed CPA or its equivalent qualification.
- Membership to Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or relevant professional body is mandatory.
- Must have knowledge in relevant legislation and professional standards.
- Must have 3 years working experience in a similar capacity or in a comparable and relevant position preferably in a school.
- Demonstrate merit and show ability as reflected in work performance and results
- Must be proficient in Computer applications.
- Proven knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules and regulations
- High attention to detail and excellent analytical and presentation skills
- Must be objective with sound independent judgement.
- Must be able to work with a diverse team.
